This is Spencer. And I am in awe of this boy.
Well, actually, I am in awe of his entire family.
I shot this portrait a year and a half ago, during a very special session with his family. Spencer’s younger sister Tuesday, at 18 months old, had been diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer. (you can see the blog post HERE) And a few short months later, in January 2009, 2-year-old Tuesday passed away, survived by her parents, her two brothers, and her twin sister. And her extended family. And the countless lives she touched.
So it is in his sister’s honor that her brother Spencer, along with several of his classmates and many others within the community, will be participating in the upcoming St Baldrick’s charity event to be held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds this Friday, March 19th. They have gathered sponsors and will be getting their heads shaved to promote awareness and raise money for pediatric cancer research. For anyone interested in sponsoring Team Tuesday – either by donation or by volunteering to get your head shaved :) – click here to visit the St Baldrick’s website. Or if you’d like further information feel free to contact me. I will be on hand documenting the event and I’d love to see you there.
And. If you know of a family who is facing similar circumstances. Or even someone who has been putting off getting a family portrait. Please have them call me.

Hi Autumn,
Thanks for doing this! My son is shaving too, along with his auntie and cousins, and classmates! He is at school with Spencer. Thank you for the beautiful photos of the Whitt’s. I look at them often on Jess’s blog.
Love,
Marne
I don’t even know what to say. Too many tears. We just love you and cherish these photos more than you will ever know.
I can’t wait to give you a hug on Friday. You, my friend, are good people.
grateful,
Jessica and family
Your pictures are so beautiful! It is immeasurable how poignant this photo shoot was. Your talent for capturing emotion is amazing. I look forward to meeting you on Friday, my son Aidan will be “shaving to save” too.
In Awe,

Autumn,
I don’t think you could have captured the delicate balance of human emotion than you did in these pictures. I met Tuesdays parent’s and brother through Emily. The support family and friends showed to them since their tragedy has been insurmountable and precious. They are an amazing group of people. Thank You for documenting part of their journey during this hard time. Thank You Whitt Family for supporting this great cause and honoring so many children battling this horrible disease.
What beautiful shots. Keep up the great work!
